Virat Kohli is a professional cricketer from India, who is widely considered to be one of the best batsmen in the world. He was born on November 5, 1988, in Delhi, India. His father, Prem Kohli, worked as a criminal lawyer, while his mother, Saroj Kohli, is a homemaker. Kohli has an elder brother, Vikash, and an elder sister, Bhavna.

Kohli's interest in cricket began at a young age. He started playing cricket when he was just three years old, and by the time he was nine, he had joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy. Under the guidance of coach Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli's skills improved rapidly, and he soon became a dominant force in Delhi's junior cricket circuit.

Kohli's big break came in 2006, when he was selected for the Indian Under-19 cricket team. He performed brilliantly in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup, leading India to victory with a match-winning knock in the final against South Africa. Kohli's performance in the tournament earned him a place in the Indian team for the 2008 tour of Sri Lanka.

Kohli's international debut came in August 2008, in an ODI against Sri Lanka. He didn't have the best start to his international career, scoring just 18 runs in his first three innings. However, he soon found his feet and started scoring runs consistently.

Kohli's breakthrough performance came in the 2011 World Cup, which India won. He was the tournament's highest run-scorer, with 273 runs at an average of 68.25. He played a crucial role in India's victory in the final, scoring 35 runs off 49 balls.

Since then, Kohli has gone on to become one of the best batsmen in the world. He has scored more than 12,000 runs in ODIs, with an average of 59.07. He has also scored more than 7,000 runs in Test cricket, with an average of 52.37. Kohli is known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to score runs under pressure.

Kohli has also been successful as a captain. He was appointed as the captain of the Indian team in 2017, and since then, he has led the team to a number of victories. He has led India to series wins in Australia and South Africa, and also led the team to the final of the 2019 World Cup.

Off the field, Kohli is known for his charity work. He is the founder of the Virat Kohli Foundation, which aims to provide education and healthcare to underprivileged children.
