Mahendra Singh Dhoni, popularly known as MS Dhoni, is a former Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian cricket team. He was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, a small town in Jharkhand, India.

Dhoni was passionate about cricket from a young age and started playing at the age of 16. He was a goalkeeper for his school football team but switched to cricket after his coach suggested he try his hand at the sport. Dhoni played for his school team and then progressed to the district and state levels.

In 2004, Dhoni made his debut for the Indian cricket team in an ODI against Bangladesh. However, it was not until 2005 that he made his mark in international cricket with a stunning knock of 148 runs against Pakistan in a series in Visakhapatnam, India. From there on, there was no looking back for Dhoni.

Dhoni's breakthrough came when he was appointed as the captain of the Indian cricket team in 2007. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Dhoni also led the Indian team to the top of the ICC Test rankings for the first time in 2009.


Dhoni was known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field, earning him the nickname "Captain Cool." He was an excellent wicket-keeper, a brilliant batsman, and a smart captain. He was also known for his unique hairstyle, which he popularized among his fans.

Dhoni retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, after a successful career spanning over 15 years. He is regarded as one of the greatest Indian cricketers of all time and is an inspiration to many aspiring cricketers in the country. Dhoni's journey from a small town in Jharkhand to the captain of the Indian cricket team is a story of determination, hard work, and success.
